Statement
The Mission
of the Wayne County Employees’ Retirement System (WCERS) is to provide secure retirement benefits that are due to
the members and beneficiaries of the WCERS, and to administer such benefits by complying with the Wayne County
Retirement Ordinance, collective bargaining agreements and other regulatory requirements with the highest ethical
standards and fiduciary responsibility so that members and beneficiaries receive the benefits they earn on a timely
basis.
Important
Notice
On December 21, 2020, the Wayne County Employees’ Retirement System (WCERS) mailed out its
Information Verification 2021 Form to 4,778 pension benefit
recipients as per its Policies and Procedures. The purpose of sending this form is to ensure the accuracy of
the information the Retirement System has for each recipient and to ensure that there is no fraud being
perpetrated against the individual or the Retirement System. This process is the fiduciary duty of the
Retirement System and its commissioners. As of the writing of this notice on August 25, 2022, 16 recipients
have not returned a completed form to our office. As a result, the Retirement System has suspended the
pension payments of those 16 recipients for noncompliance and holds their checks in trust until the form is
returned to our office. To achieve a 100% compliance rate, our office compiled a list (2 pages) identifying
the 16 recipients we are trying to locate.

The retirement office is open for business Monday-Friday from
8:00am-4:30pm. Appointments are required for all in-person
services.
