If the retiree’s pension has been overpaid due to the timing of reporting the death to our office please note that we will send you a letter requesting repayment.   The Wayne County Employees’ Retirement System has a duty to make every effort to collect the overpaid funds, which might include initiating legal action to recover the funds and, where necessary, reporting the overpayment to the Fraud and Corruption Investigation Unit within the Wayne County Prosecutors office.
